I thought Physics was The Science Society:p:

Physics probably was. :p:
Reply 7
I would be interested... as long as it's not all chemistry and physics :p:
Reply 8
Lol, of course not, even biology, earth sciences, medicine etc. would be considered a science, as much as chemistry and physics.

We should all be friends.
Reply 9
I agree!

We need to get more people interested now.
Reply 10
I'd join. From what I can tell, the more that science develops, the more the boundaries between biology, chem and physics are blurred anyway. Plus various 'applied' sciences use more than one area of science.

Since this is a society, let's start a discussion.

Some ideas (wide discussion topics so everyone can join):

Climate change

Genetics

Stem cells and cloning

Energy and the environment

Also, more scientific issues/topics from the Royal Society

Did anyone read about that cow who was cloned?

I don't think it's right to mess about with living things like that. It's just so unnatural. It was amazing how they done it though.

Just a small fact I find interesting. Aqua regis (a mixture of nitric acid and hydrochloric acid) is known as the king of acids, and is the only 'acid' that can dissolve gold!

Just because something is unnatural doesn't necessarily mean it's bad. Personally I think that as long as something is doe to advance human knowledge it's perfectly fine.
Reply 18
So is testing on humans "bad"?

How about cloning humans?

I don't mean to pick on you, but I've never understood people saying that "X is unnatural". What exactly do they mean?

It is unnatural to live in houses. It is unnatural to go to the moon. It is unnatural to build submarines or aircraft. Does something being unnatural make it wrong?
