Failing at AS

If, come exam day, you fail an AS level, but your teacher thinks you're capable of doing that subject at A2, can they keep you on the course?

If you outright fail (get a U), then no, almost certainly not. Usually you have to get a pass grade to continue (our college for example requires you to get a mid to high E minimum to continue, on the basis that on average students drop half a grade from AS to A2 - they will only continue with people who can realistically pass the course). If you fail all your subjects you'd likely have to resit the year.
