I don't think you'll be able to take any electives with medicine, but most unis have foreign language centres that offer evening classes, so you could take one of those if it's not too much work. If not, you could probably use the books, magazines, TV, DVDs and so on in your spare time, which will probably be in the library as well.

Manchester's MBChB (with European Studies) sounds like a good match.

Queen's University of Belfast links Erasmus from their Medicine school's homepage so you may have a comparable option available to you there.

I know at Bristol some of the medics can do languages (in the 2nd year I think at least, possibly not the first). One of my friends is doing 6 months in Grenoble as part of her degree.
In Manchester, there's this thing especially for medics called "modern languages for medics" - it's all designed to fit around medics' busy schedules lol.
