The interview process is fine so long as it's actually what you want to do, just make sure you're familiar with the major reviews and reforms.... E.g. Keogh review, Francis report etc... Practice with someone of you can. And the first course in A&P is hard. It's very fast paced aha

Hi there, thanks for your response. Besides the Keogh review, Francis report etc, what would you recommend reading up on and preparing for the general interview questions?

anyone looking to apply to East Anglia or Anglia Ruskin?
UNIVERSITIES

NHS FUNDED:
Greenwich (Medway campus only), Surrey, CCCU, Bournemouth, Brighton, Swansea.

NON NHS FUNDED:
Greenwich (Avery Hill Campus), St Georges, Hertfordshire, Birmingham, UEA, Anglia Ruskin, Northampton, Portsmouth, Sheffield.

*unsure about Bedford.
Hi, I was wondering if a few people could help me out...
So I'm very set on doing paramedic science/practice at university next year but I have a few worries. I am currently in Year 13 and am going to send my university applications off next week. The thing I am really worried about is my age and lack of experience. For instance I went to LJMU open day and their average age of students on the course was 29 and I am only just turning 18. The experience I have put on my personal statement is about working abroad for a week with the sick and elderly on a pilgrimage, working with children in the school's mathematic scheme and my work experience with South Yorkshire Police. I ham also part of the student council and have a job yet I have not put the last two down on my personal statement. My form tutor says my passion really shines through on my personal statement so I'm not worried about that, just the experience aspect of it. I know it's advised, however I cannot even think about taking a gap year: it's my worst nightmare!!!!!!!!!! Do you think I still have a chance of getting in, and if so, what universities would be best to apply for as places like John Moores are full of older people! STRESSING OUT !!!!!!! Also, would it be a waste of time to mention I have first aid training or is it important??
Thank you

I'm a first year and I'm 18. Universities like some younger people, we're easier to mould, we don't have as many preconceived ideas etc...

Also. As a side note, if anyone has ANY questions that you don't want to ask on here, even if it's just about is paramedics can use TXA or do a crico, feel free to email me at [email protected]

Why did you choose Paramedic Science over nursing or medicine?
(I'm also an aspiring medic, I'd just like to know your reasons :P)

In nursing you specialise in one field, in a lot of depth, but just one, as a paramedics you have to specialise in every single field and know just as much in each, that why I did this over nursing, over medicine, well a lot is changing in pre hospital health care, it's an exciting time to get into it, you can do so many things from CCP to and ECP or a paramedic practitioner or consultant, plus you're front line, in hospital patients arrive 'pre packaged' if you like, a lot of work has been done for you, and who was that done by??

Plus you get to drive in blue lights and the starting salary is higher XD
Hi  Has anyone sent off their UCAS off yet? I sent mine off about 2 weeks ago! Does anyone know if there is a fitness test we have to complete on interview day?? Thanks in advanced

Do you know which do? I've applied to Teesside, St George's London, Anglia Ruskin, Oxford Brookes, and Bournemouth. Where are you applying to?

out of those I think it's just Brighton and Anglia Ruskin that have fitness tests. Heard it's relatively easy so long as you're not overly unfit or have any problems lifting anything too heavy or bending and whatever.

I'm applying to St George's, Anglia Ruskin, Bedfordshire (maybe) and Hertfordshire not sure where else yet.

Has anyone else sent their application off yet?
What do you guys think are some of the best Unis to go to for Paramedic Science?

Hey everyone, just gonna jump in and hijack the thread. I was wondering what do people think about doing the Student ambulance paramedic program vs. going the university route ? I have a full C1 license and am currently in my A2 year and EEAST are offering paid student paramedic programs over 2.5 years.

So what people think ?
I would definitely say do uni with a BSC degree. From 2018 all foundation and ECA to Para qualifications will need to be topped up with a 1 year course to a BSC level. Unsure what eeast is? Swasft is my trust and you need minimum 3 years experience as a ECA before you can get on the paid paramedic student course. Hope this helps 😁
