What is the difference "evaluating" and "analysing"?

This is probably posted in the wrong section but I don't understand the difference between analysing something and evaluating.

So, in simple terms, could someone help me out.
Generally it depends on which situation you use the words in. In many situations, either word is suitable because they are so similar.

Evaluate is generally to find out the value of something.

Analyse is to examine something closely and is more neutral.

Analysis is often used in terms of pure knowledge e.g. 'scientific analysis' or problem solving e.g 'system analysis'. Evaluation is used where there is qualitative or quantitative value e.g. 'stock evaluation' or 'evaluate this plan'.

Hope that helps. :s-smilie:
Evaluating something is to make an appraisal about it based on the strengths and weaknesses, while analysing something is examining it in order to discover or reveal something(s) about it.

In geography analysing is looking at the data and working out the answers. Evaluating is giving an appraisal of our findings and methods used and saying what we would do diff in the next survey/report ect.
