Former nurse, can she still get student finance?

My wife is very bravely setting out to do a degree as a mature student. In looking at the student loan application form it asks if she has ever done previous higher education including HND.
She did qualify as a nurse with a diploma back in 1986 (!) before nursing was all Higher Ed linked. It says "Extra Mural diploma" on the certificate (not HND) so we are desperately hoping that doesn't get in the way of this new plan.

Anyone know?

Hi, LiverpoolDreamer.

What course is your wife now going to do? We only look at any previous study that was taken at a higher education level. In the previous study section of the application it will ask what level of qualification she already has, so if there is none available that represent what she actually has then this can be left blank.

The tricky thing is working our what level if any her dip nursing counts as. It was in those "olden days" when nurses trained on the job, before all went for either a diploma in HE or a degree. But she did do some classess and got this "extra mural diploma" when she qualified. So we are desperately hoping that it does not equal an HND or anything else to stop her taking a BA in theology.
