Confused about one question on regression (S1)

It's this question:


I understand everything, except that when I look at the solutions they calculate b using Spv/Svv. Shouldn't it be Spv/Spp since the general formula is Sxy/Sxx and not Sxy/Syy?

Hi. The variable v is used to code x, and p replaces y. So the formula is now Svp/Svv, i.e. Spv/Svv, as Svp = Spv.
