still i dont understand the solutuon

One path length = 18 cm + 6 cm = 24 cm
Other path length = 30 cm + 12 cm = 42 cm
Path difference = 42cm 24 cm = 18 cm why do they subtract
Number of wavelengths = 18/12 = 1.5 where does 12 come from
