Brazil supports this and wishes America to do the right thing in supporting this as I can say we all have skeletons in are wardrobes including my beloved Brazil.

Austria is in agreement with the aims of this resolution, but would prefer the resolution to also support the continued presence of the current African Union peacekeeping force, which is supporting the Transitional Government of Somalia, and to reaffirm the United Nation's support for the Transitional Government.
She also feels that (2.) is too vague, and should specify which Member States are being condemned. Austria reminds the UN that, in addition to US and Ethiopian military forces operating in Somalia on the side of the Transitional Government, Eritrea is suspected of supplying arms and soldiers to the Union of Islamic Courts, fighting against the TG.
With appropriate revision, Austria is confident she will support the resolution.
Israel disagrees with clause 2.

America agrees with Israel - it's very poor of member states to condemn external forces which have brought a government back to office from an attempted overthrow by militia.
Israel totally backs America on this one (and indeed, every one). Until this clause is deleted from the resolution, Israel will not support it.

Belgium would refer Israel and America to Chapter I, Article 2, Paragraph 4.

The UN Charter
All Members shall refrain in their international relations from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state

To condemn the external help Somalia is getting is negligent in Greece's opinion.

Greece shall vote against clause 2, and subsequently will vote against the resolution.

Belgium is not aware that AU peacekeepers have been despatched. Is the delegate from Austria thinking of Darfur?

Also, Preambulatory Pagraph 3 of the resolution already reaffirms 'the Transitional Federal Government (TFG) as the sole legitimate authority of Somalia'.

She also feels that (2.) is too vague, and should specify which Member States are being condemned. Belgium initially felt that this vaguer wording allow the resolution easier passage past a US veto. It seems, however, that he opposite is true.

With appropriate revision, Austria is confident she will support the resolution.

The United Republic of Tanzania would like to support this resolution. We are extremely close to Somalia geographically and have raised concern about our security numerous times in the UN. Speaking on behalf of the people to Tanzania, I would like this matter looked into deeply because in the past, US troops have withdrawn from Somalia eventually leading to the situation in the Horn of Africa deteriorating.

Apologies, in fact an 8,000 strong force has been approved by the UNSC but not yet deployed.

Jordan will have to disagree regarding clause 2; condemning the help Somalia has recieved from other countries to put its goverment back in place.
Unless that part of the resolution is edited, we will have to vote against it.

Why does it matter whether it's an islamic militia or not?

I'm not sure who said anything about a democratic society, by all accounts President Ahmed is an authoritarian who has a history of killing his detractors.

Germany stands by the charter, and still supports the resolution including clause 2.

Australia will support and vote in favour of this resolution provided that Clause 2 is either rephrased or removed entirely. We understand and are concerned by the worsening situation in Somalia but feel that the resolution attempts to completely dismiss the efforts of foreign countries in trying to establish democracy and good governance in Africa.
