Those UMS's are ridicilous. Congratulations. I'm assuming those UMS pulled you thruugh the application process.

What college did you apply for?

What are some good online resources for C3? I meant to borrow textbooks from college but I kinda forgot

Tbh I was expecting higher in S1 but oh well. The other 5 were predicted perfectly hehe.
Applied to Fitzwilliam. I guess so but for maths they don't care as much for ums as they do in other subjects.

Oh, I never knew that. I've always assumed it was the opposite; they assumed fair greatly for maths than any other subject.

If you've done the trip from C3 try some of the AEA trig questions I quite like them tbh

If you use the 4 formulas i gave for sin and cos all aea trig is so easy. If you try graphs and cast diagrams they are horrific.

Do you enjoy Biomed then? Do you think you'll want to go onto being a band 5 BMS if they offer you a job? Would you stay in haematology or would you develop in another area?

I am really enjoying it - I wouldn't enjoy the constant automated haematology work, as much over time (In smaller hospitals) except some work on blood parameters, which I do enjoy, however at the MRI there is more specialist tests going on for myeloma etc. which is really interesting! If they offered me a Job, then as I am doing my registration portfolio this year would go straight in at band 5 - But I want to apply for the STP and go for the blood sciences specialism - immunology/haem and transfusion - If after a couple of years I am unsuccessful then im unsure what I would do - Probably an immunology Msc and onto a higher specialist portfolio from the IBMS to obtain further career development and onto band 6.

What are you doing?

Hey, did you ever consider Biochem over Biomed? And if you did, why did you choose Biomed in the end? Sorry if this is a silly question

I never really considered BioChem before my BioMed degree, mainly because before my degree I was really interested in microbiology; so I thought that I could see a bit of all specialisms before I made my mind up - in 2nd year BioMed we have had medical biochem, clinical genetics, haem and transfusion science + human physiology lab work/trial work - After doing the medical biochem (we have about 9, 3 hour praticals/lab throughout the year in each module) I found it really interesting, So if I knew about it before my degree, I possibly would have picked it!
You get differences in courses in each university - however when a University is IBMS accredited, there isn't much the uni can change so it follows strict guidelines on pratical work etc, but its good as you know its all counting towards an accredited degree which is needed for registration to become a biomedical scientist (although you can 'top up' a non accredited degree, however it can take just as long as your first degree! are you interested in it/doing it currently?

Ah, I see. So basically, the biomedical degree is the best route if you want to be a biomedical scientist and work in hospitals etc?

And yeah, I want to apply for Biochemistry. I was just thinking about where Biomedical Science could take me. I want to go into research sometime, and I'm not sure which field just yet, but Biotechnology looks very likely
How do you find Manchester? I'll be applying there

Looking at a female researcher sucking infected insects into a container, I realise once again biology is not my thing.

That is indeed a pooter, thanks Google lol

So far it's been quite boring Tbh lol Got to weigh some chemicals out on a balance (yay) and looked at pooter in action XD

Ah, I'm sure it'll get better :h:

I'm just trying to keep my mind off it  what results are you getting? (subjects etc.)

Hmm, I seem to remember upper 6th boundaries being higher for entry into BMO2. In fact (just searched it up) it was 43 this year, so as much practice as it takes to be able to do 4-5 questions

Wait, Cayley? Isn't that for year 9?

It might have been Hamilton then or a Kangaroo I can't remember lol - whichever it was, it was the one just below BMO1 :P
