I thought there were a lot of very easy questions on that paper, some unusual ones and a couple I can see will cause problems

Q1 - fairly easy momentum, although using k can causes problems
Q2 - very easy vertical motion
Q3 - Standard statics, very common question
Q4 - Dynamics, I can see this one causing a lot of problems.
Q5 - Moments, a) was simple, b) could cause problems
Q6 - Very simple vectors
Q7 - Speed time, slightly harder than normal
Q8 - standard connected particles, b) is a joke if you had learnt the formula.

Very hard to call the boundaries

Arsey help a brother out, tell me how many marks I'll lose for this: The Q was 11 marks

Q8)a) mass of particle Q was o.5kg, therefore equation of motion is T - 0.5g = 0.5a but I messed up and whilst hurriedly writing, time was running out, I wrote it out as T - 0.5=0.5a, completely forgetting the g.

how many marks I'll lose for this stupid mistake???

And so I used this wrong tension value in part b), do I still lose marks on that, or is there ecf?

Can you post ial m1
For part 8a if you resolve tension in the wrong direction is that 15 marks gone just like that?

cheers bro, harder or easier than last year?
ahh thanks Arsey I think I got between 63-66 messed up big time on the lift question.
According to this i got 100%!!! i am so freaking happy!! thankyou Arsey for sharing this!
Only one I got wrong was the second moments part.. Not sure how they're in equilibrium if it's tilting but whatever. Any idea how many marks I'd get if I did all the calculations and stuff without realising it was tilting so you ignored one tension? Maybe 1 method mark?

69/75 at worst. Happy with that, should be 90 UMS+.

Thanks!
Did anyone else misread Q.8 and use friction going downwards instead of upwards?? Pretty worried that I've lost the entire 15 marks.

I'm wondering the same thing but I did it for tension

I feel your pain; used the wrong equation in that part - kept the 0.5g but flipped the equation. Think my method for the next part may have been unsound as well (did the cosine rule with the angle in question being 90 + alpha)
Everywhere else I agree with the mark scheme, excepting units - never understood why if a question talks about something like "M kg" and tells you to find M, you should put M in kg because surely M is the number before kg..anyways they always put the units in brackets so it should be alright.
for the last question i put a = -1/3g and worked out T from that, and used that value to work out the reaction, how many marks would i get

Hey Arsey/Anyone

How many marks would I lose for not subbing in the right acceleration in question 8? I got the right value, but I didn't have time to change my tension and resultant tension answers. Would I lose anything more other than the two A1 marks?
100%
Reply 18
100%, not bad
Think I got 65 + any method marks for that bloody lift question:smile: needed 77 ums so hopefully I've got that
