I had the middle time as 300/v -6
and worked out a value of v using the quadratic formula of 46.7 how much marks would you say i could lose.
Original post by Arsey
I thought there were a lot of very easy questions on that paper, some unusual ones and a couple I can see will cause problems

Q1 - fairly easy momentum, although using k can causes problems
Q2 - very easy vertical motion
Q3 - Standard statics, very common question
Q4 - Dynamics, I can see this one causing a lot of problems.
Q5 - Moments, a) was simple, b) could cause problems
Q6 - Very simple vectors
Q7 - Speed time, slightly harder than normal
Q8 - standard connected particles, b) is a joke if you had learnt the formula.

Very hard to call the boundaries

Arsey, thanks for the answers - I've got a question on Q7 b) would I get full marks for writing, instead of 2v and 4v, v/0.5 and v/0.25, and 300 - v/0.5 - v/0.25? a Reply would be really appreciated

Odd question; but I am rather intrigued. What pen do you use when you write these solutions up?

Thanks!
Did anyone else misread Q.8 and use friction going downwards instead of upwards?? Pretty worried that I've lost the entire 15 marks.

No, no I didn't. I doubt you've lost all 15, though.

for the lift question if I worked out the acceleration wrong but used the right method to work out part b do I get 3 out of 4 on that and 0/3 for part a?
How many marks will I lose if I put a=-1.2 and then in brackets put(i.e.acting downwards)
Hi, that very last question that is a 'joke', I have never seen the formula that people are using  I drew out a force diagram and used the cos rule a2 = b2 + c2 - 2cos etc. I've just done it and it works but I think I got the wrong final answer in the exam. Any idea what that'll be worth?

I'm in the same position as you, but I got the right acceleration. I also need to know! I think you might lose at least 3 marks, M1,A1,A1 and maybe more depending on whether you had the right method in part a)

How many marks do you guys think I'll lose in total for these:
-moments question I didn't realise Ta=0 but I got expressions in terms of M and Tc (they included variables)
-speed time question I got v=0.5t v=0.25t and v=300-0.75t and then for the last part I did (300+(300-0.75t))/2 *V and used the quadratic formula getting to an answer of 21.6
- lift question part a I did 255g-150=255a to get a=9.21 and part b I did 55g-473=66 therefore R=200g-66-150=1876N
Any help is greatly appreciated
Guys, what grade boundaries do u think they are gonna make this year? I think I lost about 12-13 marks can that still be an A?

My school never taught the formula which is annoying because I thought I created a right-angled vector triangle and then did pythag
damn it .... i done the speed of the position vector instead of the velocity by accient ........ damn it..... how many marks lost?
Hi People/Arsey

For 6C. I may have written root29=5.38

Any idea if i would lose mark(s) for this rounding error, or will they take my root29 as correct?

thanks

Got a minimum of 68/75 (can't remember my answer to two of the questions), so 90% raw. Woop!
In the region of 56-60 with methods marks and 53-56 without... not what I was hoping for but the A is still achievable...

Would be interested to know what people thought this would be UMS wise
That looks like a nice paper actually, I sat M1 with CCEA this year and they had a question similar to question 8 on this paper, but with all unknowns, and each subsequent part of the question depended on the last, so a lot of people tripped up on that because of the algebraic manipulation that was needed.
Everything correct except the lift part b, where I resolved up instead of downwards and didn't put -a. So excluding this question 71 minimum and 72/73 if I'm lucky with working marks?

I did the same thing x) I thought the question was easy and I got out of the exam and though ooops... As it was 11 marks, there shouldn't be massed on Answer marks, if you're sound on Method i'd expect 6/11 maybe? For the second part, if you did it correctly, maybe 2/4?
low high grade boundaries?
