Edexcel gcse history (USA 1919-41)

How is everyone feeling for this exam? Cold War went brilliantly. Personally I'm scared that this and Britain will be hard! What topics do people think will come up?

THIS IS THE ONE FOR THE 10TH OF JUNE!!

Has anyone got anything that shows what to write for the questions based on the marks?

Yeah, it is:

Q1A - 4 MARKS, 4 MINUTES
What can you learn from...
(1 supported inference - 2 if you have time)

Q1B - 6 MARKS, 8 MINUTES
Describe...
(3 developed points. This means 3 different points, each with factual detail. This can often be approached by thinking about the background/cause, event and consequence of it.)

Q1C - 8 MARKS, 12 MINUTES
Explain the effect of.....consequences questions.
(2 PEE paragraphs - 3 if you can but make sure to do 2 properly. Link the points and state which is the most important)

Q1D - 8 MARKS, 12 MINUTES
Explain why.....causes questions.
(2 PEE paragraphs - 3 if you can but make sure to do 2 properly. Link the points and state which is the most important)

Q2 - 8 MARKS, 12 MINUTES.
Change/ process questions.
(2 changes explained in PEE'S. You must show the change by comparing the start to the end of the period. State which was most important.)

Q3 - 16 MARK QUESTION, 25 MINUTES.
(4 PEE points - use the ones you're give, but you can replace one with another if there's one you really want to include. Link as you go. Start with the most important factor and explain why it is in the first paragraph - this will probably lead to a natural link with another point. Top answers will show how things happened due to a range of interdependent factors.)

Sorry this was long, hope it's helpful.

Hi, literally just came across this thread after finding out, for question 3, in the latest mark scheme you can't get more than 10 marks if you only write about the points they give you! You have to add your own, to show them that you know the course content as well as technique. They now only give you 2 bullet points instead of the 4, so its not too bad to come up with one or two different ones. Hope it helped!

Urm, not quite sure what the question was, sorry!
You still have the choice between two questions for 2 and 3.
Also, q2 no longer has SpaG marks, so the total available is now 54 (4,6,8,8,8,16+4).

Thank you. For the last question (3) do you mean you can replace the ones that they give you or just your own ones?

scr.pngThis tells you that you cannot get maximum marks without mentioning more points than those that they give.
In the specification, government policies and problems of old industries have been written in red and so has the Dust Bowl. Does that mean that we will not be tested on those?

It's only a part of the new deal thing so if it does come up, it's likely to be a part of the 16 mark questions and you get to pick from that - I wouldn't be too worried but try anyway!
