Personally I wouldn't walk it alone.
There have been various attacks on that route over the years. However, given the number of people who walk it every day, it is a very low number. Still, better safe than sorry. -
Re: The Warwick Accommodation Thread (+Guide in Post#1) - UG Applications Now Open! No. Just because it's a university doesn't stop anybody else from wondering onto it. Plus, given the proximity to Coventry... I'm sure you can put two and two together(Original post by DontBeJelBeReem)
da ***, people at the university attack other students?
You can find articles on The Boar's website (The university's student newspaper) about campus attacks, but there are far more articles on keeping accommodation secure on campus and in the surrounding areas. While I would say stay vigilant, burglary is far more likely on campus than issues with personal safety. -
Re: The Warwick Accommodation Thread (+Guide in Post#1) - UG Applications Now Open!No no no, like other people have already said, it's random outsiders. Campus is accessible by the public. Bus routes run through it, and it is on the outskirts of Coventry anyway. It has to be accessible by the public, there's the Arts Centre and loads of other events there.(Original post by DontBeJelBeReem)

However, haha, be in Pop at the wrong time and you will find yourself in the middle of a bust up between two silly fresher boys. They get picked off each other very quickly though by either their friends or security so it isn't a problem at all.
I think Nirgilis is right tbh when he says that theft is a bigger problem. Which is easily avoided by keeping an eye on your stuff and locking windows/doors when you leave. -
Re: The Warwick Accommodation Thread (+Guide in Post#1) - UG Applications Now Open!
Does anyone have the layout of Clacroft and Heronbank? I only find Lakeside...
Does Claycroft have similar layout as Lakeside? Or the shared bathroom and two bedrooms are in one suite?
Which dormitory is the quietest (Clacroft, Heronbank or Lakeside)?
Are the ducks noisy surrounding the lake?
I really need a quiet place, but I cannot make decision without the layout.
Help me please~T_T
Thank you sooooooooooo much >_< -
Re: The Warwick Accommodation Thread (+Guide in Post#1) - UG Applications Now Open! The chances of you getting attacked on campus are infinitesimally small. There is really nothing for you to be afraid of on campus. Leave worrying amount mugging & attacks until you move to Leamington or Coventry in second year(Original post by DontBeJelBeReem)

Re: The Warwick Accommodation Thread (+Guide in Post#1) - UG Applications Now Open! The above floor plan is actually of Sherbourne - it was just at the time when I posted it it has been unnamed and because it was right between Lakeside blocks I called it Lakeside II.(Original post by sular)

That's Claycroft. Heronbank/Lakeside plans aren't online. -

When does the Uni start telling us what accomodation we get? -
Re: The Warwick Accommodation Thread (+Guide in Post#1) - UG Applications Now Open!
If I put 'Off Campus' for my fifth choice, does that mean that I'd still get one of my first four, since firmers are guaranteed campus accomodation?
I'm stuck for a fifth choice - Sherbourne and Bluebell are too expensive and Rootes sounds too noisy!
And also, would you have to organise off campus accomodation yourself, or through the university?Last edited by CJAW; 25-07-2012 at 20:39. -
Re: The Warwick Accommodation Thread (+Guide in Post#1) - UG Applications Now Open!Highly doubt that you will end up getting off campus accommodation unless you are extremely unlucky. However, if you were to be allocated it, the university would put you in a group in a house - you wouldn't have to do it yourself.(Original post by CJAW)

Do you know if you are allowed to decline your accomodation offer and instead ask them to find you off campus accomodation, if you weren't happy with the one you got?
-
Re: The Warwick Accommodation Thread (+Guide in Post#1) - UG Applications Now Open!Honestly, I'm not sure. Usually if you decline a contract then you don't get any further options, but that might just be on campus. Best thing I can suggest is ringing them to ask(Original post by CJAW)
Thanks
