which are the most undersubscribed and oversubscribed halls? Any possible way to find out? or if anyone knows roughly...

Roughly, I think Westwood is often undersubscribed and anywhere offering 30 week ensuite is often oversubscribed. This is based on stuff I've read here - I'm not aware of any official statistics on this.

thanks!! yeah heard that about westwood too. Also heard arthur vick and jack martin are extremely popular.

Im really interested in Rootes to be honest, so what I really wanted to know is if chances of getting it are higher or lower than the average hall.

I have to disagree with this!

Why do you not like it?

Apart from being a little way out, why is it awful? The rooms are quite large. I thought it looked OK if you want somewhere a bit quieter.

Well I lived in Westwood and really enjoyed it.
As an ex Westwood student I can say Westwood is amazing, its a little out the way but you get huge rooms, low rents and are really close to Tesco (which is way way way way cheaper than the cost cutter on campus). Also a few of the blocks were renovated last summer so you only have 10 people per kitchen in them and the kitchen is plenty big.

Thanks this is really heartening to hear, has it got a common room, or somewhere to meet up and just chat informally on week nights. ?:colondollar:

Way too far out of campus. I would dread having to do that walk every morning. Only advantage is its right beside the post room and you might be closer to some of your exams. I lived in Cryfield and the room size is no problem, you are only here for 10 weeks a term anyway.

It's not that far, places like the maths building are no further away from Westwood than from Cryfield/Bluebell, and also it's nearer Cannon Park which is a big advantage. If you want to see far out, you should see where I lived in Leamington

James how far are we talking about, walking briskly, 20 minutes?

There is a common room on the ground floor of each building, also people might socialise in the kitchens or in someone's room.

One of the big reputations Westwood has is being too 'far' from things. I don't agree that this is justified - over the last few years various shortcuts have been made available so to walk to the maths building (and places nearby) you don't have to go so far. Also there are other accommodations recently built which are fairly far out so compared to those there's not so much difference. And of course compared to the travel time from off-campus locations where you would be later on, it's really not that bad.

A mile from the bus stop, 10-15 minutes brisk walk I'd say.

I can do WEC (Westwood Education Centre, on the side of the Westwood area) to the maths building in six minutes (go up through the science park side, it's much faster). It's slightly further to the accommodation blocks themselves, but not by much. It's certainly closer than, say, Sherbourne.
Thanks everyone. Whats it like at Sherboure, its the newest Hall i believe so is it the nicest ?? Whats it like ?
cheers
Sherbourne is awesome, if rather expensive. The ensuite bathrooms are of course the primary draws, but the rooms are quite nice otherwise as well. If you're on the top floor of any of the six blocks, you'll even get a skylight. Flats are 12 to a large and regularly cleaned kitchen, with suitable amounts of fridge, freezer and storage space. Drawbacks would be the price and being a few more minutes from central campus than most of the other halls.
If I've put Warwick as my insurance do I still need to apply for accommodation? Or would it all be sorted out after results day if I don't meet the conditions of my firm?

Yes, you still need to apply for accommodation before the deadline. If you don't end up going to Warwick then they would just cancel your application.
