Is the UK democratic?

I hear that the UK is 'Democratic' all the time but just look at these facts:

Does killing a million people in iraq just for oil sound alright to you?
Does BP extracting oil in iraq right now and giving little money to iraq sound alright to you?
Does the UK supplying weapons to counties who are on their own human right abuses list sound alright to you?
Does homelessness doubling by 55% sound alright to you?
Does the big companies who avoid paying billions and billions of tax sound alright to you?
Does treating the disabled and poor people like scum sound alright to you?
Does destroying people homes then moving them far far away and then building new ones that ordinary people con't afford sound alright to you?
Does the top 1% owning nearly more then all of the earth wealth sound alright to you?
Does first passed the vote voting system seem alright to you?

And trust me there's much more.

SO DOES THIS SOUND 'Democratic'?

Oh and does bankers getting 140% payrise while ordinary folks get 3% sound alright to you?
Does unelected bureaucrats from Brussels making the majority of our laws sound democratic to you?
Democracy
[noun]
"A system of government by the whole population or all eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives."

I believe this happens, so yes, we are democratic.

But the majority of the above things I mentioned the UK general public obviously don't want! We are forced to vote for the sh*t policies. Also the Green party will never win EVER as the voting system is sh*t as I said above!

What does the top 1% earning more than the rest of the world has to do with democracy in the UK?

I don't think you know what democracy really means, you sound like a butthurt socialist.

People still aren't forced to vote/vote for a particular party. They choose out of their own free will/ignorance.

What I'm saying is that does people want to kill millions in iraq NO, does people want to give bankers bonuses by 140% NO does people want to close NHS hospitals NO this goes on and on and on. THIS IS DONE WITHOUT OUR CONSENT. In kind of fricking private room!

Sorry if I sound angry lol

We do not vote on many decisions the government make, but we vote on who we want in that government (this is the democracy part).

Okay so we want banks and big companies to not pay their taxes at all worth 35bn and we want to kick people out of their houses to make way for rich people. Oh I almost forgot we all liked to be spied on. This sounds brilliant!

Tony blairs government was voted in after Iraq started for another term. So yes we live in a democracy. Incidentally, the majority of casualties in Iraq were caused by Iraqis deciding to kill their neighbours because they followed a different interpretation of Islam.

Bankers pay is decided by the shareholders of the bank. Not by the general population.

Which NHS hospitals are being closed. You sound like you'd be a supporter of the way that the NHS Scotland is being run by the SNP, yet the standard of service there is falling behind NHS England.

Iraq war still goes ahead

Austerity still takes place.
I mean, you could say it's democratic to the sense that every adult can vote, but the FPTP system distorts them for the extreme, like what TrewKazim said before, Green will never get into power (neither will UKIP) if the last election serves as an indicator. UKIP, Green and Lib Dems combined got millions more votes more than parties like the SNP, and yet while those 3 parties got 10 seats combined, the SNP wins about 50 seats... Hardly representative democracy

How can you possible say that 1 million people and millions more refugees were made by neighbours fighting themselves WTF.

Exactly my point why should shareholders get to decide this!

I don't care what I'm a supporter of.
Our democracy is hindered certainly by the power of the right wing press to make people's minds up for them and set the agenda to benefit a handful of very wealthy individuals.

Because most people were in favour of it?

Likewise the Tories got a majority this time round.

The right wing press made up your mind for you on these issues?

I do a paper round, and it was horrible having to deliver some of them before the election, with some of the headlines

Iraqi casualties were mainly caused by Sunni and Shia Iraqis going square go at each other.

Shareholders of any Plc ultimately set salary and bonus levels of its chief executives or employees, not the general public.
