Hi Joanna, great to hear you're interested in coming to study with us. Our translation course is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Linguists, so will stand you in good stead career-wise.

From what I know of the translation course one of the best things about it is how closely everybody works together and I worked with a lot of the tutors for this course during clearing last year and they were, without exception, lovely.

The course itself (as with many of our courses) is career-focussed: it aims to not only teach you about language, culture and mediation but also apply this to a real-world professional setting. Amalgamated into the course is a work placement and an extensive programme of industry speakers, professional translators, interpreters and IT specialists.

The course has a broad approach in the different media that you can translate, from specialist areas such as finance, law and medicine to cartoons, comic strips and adverts. This means that you will develop a solid foundation of translation knowledge which you can then tailor towards your own aspirations and career ambition.

The last thing that I know about the course, that may be of benefit to you, is how our students can benefit from the close links we have with the EU Directorate General for Translation, United Nations and international universities across Europe and around the world. This is really helpful for you in honing your skills and linguistic ability.

I sincerely wish you the best of luck with your application, please don't hesitate to ask me if you have any more questions. I hope this was useful!

Kind regards,
Simon
