I'd go for biology just because it's a lot more common than human biology and you know all unis will definitely accept it, which might not be the case for human biology. You'll obviously need chemistry as well and perhaps maths/physics would be good. For your contrasting subject, I'd go for music because it seems quite well respected and PE studies won't be. With medicine being as competitive as it is, you should give yourself the best possible chance.

Music over P.E. definitely. And in my school more of the hopeful medics took Higher Human Biology, although a few did Biology. All of them got interviews and have several offers already. It doesn't really matter, but bear in mind that Biology has a lot of plant-related stuff, compared to Human Bio. (obviously). However, Human Biology is generally considered a harder Higher than Biology. Though, if you're more interested in it, you might find it easier to work hard at it and get the results.

There's a thead on choosing Scottish Highers for medicine here http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=315543 and here http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=315538. (Second one's a bit more useful probably.)

Good luck.
