UK grading system compared to Swiss grading system

Hi everyone,

I am new on this forum and I wanted to ask a question that even my best friend Google could not answer.

I am currently working in a private bank in Zurich and I have an undergraduate degree from an "University of Applied Sciences" in Business Administration.

My aim is to do a MFIN in the UK but I don't know how to compare my grades to the "UK style grades".

I ended with a finale grade of 5 (from 6), and I am numbered amongst the 30% best students of my class. What would it be? A 1:1 or a 2:1?

Thank you very much in advance.

Contact unis you're interested in applying to and ask. Different unis may work it out differently so it isn't a good idea to try and work it out yourself.

I agree that you need to contact the unis directly, but as a start here is the Imperial minimum for postgrad entry, 4.5 out of 6 which is equivalent to a 2:2 (they note many courses require a 2:1 equivalent but don't specify that per country). However I note that they talk about a "mainstream university", whereas you talk about a university of "applied sciences", is this the same thing or different?

Cambridge has a minimum of a 2:1 entry which they give as 5/6:

So it appears you have a 2:1, but again, check.

Thank you for your answers!I have graduated from an uni that is AACSB certified. The notion of "mainstream" uni is also very subjective, especially in Switzerland (anyone can get into any university as long as you have a so called "maturité fédérale", doesn't matter with which grade).I think I will send my diplomas to the "Naric", they can certainly help.
