How long does it take to get released into clearing?

This is on results day. I know it's a busy time with phone calls etc but a lot of people are saying it can take forever (days), however people I have spoken to from last year said they got released within minutes of getting of the phone.

Just wondering if it can vary from uni to uni?

While it is possible to get agreement within minutes it generally takes a minimum of 2 hours for a release to be sent to UCAS and appear on track. If you are lucky.

Some universities only send one update to UCAS a day (usually overnight). Others will send updates every few hours.

Relying on universities to place you into Clearing on results day is a very risky option.
