Welsh Partial Cancellation of Maintaince loan

Being a student from Wales, I get a partial cancellation when I make the first payment off my student loans. I want to do it now (end of first year) because you get more paid off, the earlier you do it. But as you only get one chance to get up to £1,500 taken off, I want to make sure I can get as much money taken off as possible. Does anyone know what the minimum I need to pay for this is?

having read the booklet it seemed like if you had less than £1500 loan that it might actually only be 5 pounds.
Considering getting a cancellation myself but not sure who to call.
