Extended Essay Subject Choice
I've set up this poll to see peoples choices for EE's... I'm curious about which subjects are more frequently chosen, judging from my school most are doing social sciences(group 3), while only one person is doing an EE from group 4 (me doing Chemistry!!) .
I thought this poll might help people in making their EE subject choices in the future. -

Re: Extended Essay Subject ChoiceLanguage B, Arabic advantages:
1. No Plagerism machine, not that I plagerised
b. High probability of getting an A
3. You chose what ever you want, as long as it concerns your area...
I like my EE just wish it wasn't in arabic
if it weren't for my english=arabic dictionary I wouldn't have 200 words
-
Re: Extended Essay Subject Choicei thought of doing the same, but my arabic teacher said it was a bad idea ( probably cause she doesent want to do the supervising. i ended up doing chemistry.(Original post by ~Lc~)

Re: Extended Essay Subject ChoiceI think you can choose a topic from these for group 2:(Original post by elvito)
if you do your EE in language B, does the whole essay have to be in that language? What would you write about?
- Culture and society: eg. French: Nuclear energy and national bias in the French press.
- Language analysis: eg. Japanese: The use of language in NÐ theatre.
- Litrature: eg. Arabic: The imagery of city streets in Naguib Mahfouz’s trilogy
Good Luck -
Re: Extended Essay Subject Choice
Yeah I was going to do language B because of this conversation:
My IB coordinator: No one at this school has of yet done an extended essay in their language B
Me: But its possible, right?
IBC: It is a very, very bad idea.
Fortunately my love of being the first to do stuff was outweighed by my love of not dying while writing my extended essay. I stuck to English A1. -
Re: Extended Essay Subject ChoiceSame here,,, i was discouriged by IBC and Language teacher, but going through it all, i would have insisted more on doing it.(Original post by IBblonde)

If really really want to do it in Language B, and you think ur good enough, than dont let anybody trick u in doing something u dont like.
During the course of IB u'll be told some inaccurate things by teachers and IBC. Always check the thing ur self or ask TSR if you're not sure.

Re: Extended Essay Subject Choice
Lol I actually think the advice I was given was fairly good. Especially cause my french topic was going to be TinTin-related, my references would have been non-existant (nothing available in the original language) and... oh yeah! Ive forgotten a lot of french, and would have to master about five tenses that the french probably only made up to be used in extended essays. Im incredibly incredibly glad I stuck to group one... though Matthew Arnold is proving challenging enough.
