Russell Brand seems to have a rather simplistic and misguided view of the situation.
Firstly because he says religion is not the issue. Like it or not, religion has a great bearing and relevance to the situation. It seems that if you start talking about the religious relevance, people start crying out "not all Muslims" or something like that. Well that's great, but not everyone who wants to talk about the relevance of the religion in question is trying to lump all Muslims together. That defensiveness is what holds a lot of people back from talking about it. It makes the whole situation counter-productive and impossible to move forward.
Also, the drone strikes are only part of the problem. I'm not a great fan of the drone strikes, but why do some people act like if we didn't step foot in another of their counties, and never sent another drone, that all manner of violence of that nature would stop? This is what Brand and people like him don't seem to understand.
