Wart on finger, can patients catch it?

Ive got a wart on my finger, it started and has gone bigger today. Ive not had one for 20 years and know who its from my boyfriend who had one on his finger and kept picking it we hold hands a lot. Anyway i know that they can take years to go and its not bothering me but im a physiotherapy student and wondered do i need to keep putting a plaster on my finger, are they easily spread do i need to worry about giving it to other students/patients? I dont really want all my class to know i have a wart whats the best thing to do?
Yes warts are contagious, they are caused by the HPV virus which is spread with skin to skin contact. You should be wearing gloves.
