Education Loan - Completely Lost and Confused

I want to start a new course, but neither me nor my family have the funds for it on our own, so I need to get a loan.

How, who, where, would I apply for a loan? Should I go to the bank manager?

(I never did UCAS, and didn't take a loan from SLC for my degree, but from what I see, SLC only give loans to people studying standard, 3-year, £27000 bachelor degrees)

What course do you want to study?

The Co-Op and Barclays Banks offer the Professional and Career Development (PCDL) loan, which is unsecured. These loans are offered for a range of courses which help you with career development including postgrad degrees (but nit undergrad degrees). However this is for a maximum of £10,000 and is credit-checked, so you may get less than you asked for or be turned down completely. It also has commercial-style repayment conditions, meaning that the banks can start demanding repayment even when you aren't earning.

It's an ATPL and costs £87,000 a year.

There is notoriously no full non-commercial funding for a commercial airline pilot's licence. If you/your family can't afford it then the only option is sponsorship by an employer as a trainee pilot. You can get a specialist ATPL loan, but a quick Google shows the the company offering it will only lend a max of £15,000 pa so even that's no good for you. It seems to be targetted at the theory aspects of the training.

Pilot training certainly has nothing to do with any form of student funding.
