Equal pay at Wimbledon is feminist ''equality''
Not too long ago men used to earn more than women at Wimbledon but because of feminist/social ''justice'' blackmail the organizers made it equal for everyone. You might ask, why do men deserve more? Simples : because they bring in far more money than the women. But because both tournaments (men's and women's) are played at the same time the women get a false sense of legitimacy and ''equality''. If the tournaments were separated nobody would even care, just like the rest of the other female tournaments (they can't even draw in crowds at Grand Slams, i remember last year one of the RG female semis the stands weren't even half full).
Men bring in far more money through sponsors, TV rights (even more so since men's matches are far longer so more ads are being played), tickets, merchandise etc etc. There would be 2 ways to make this fair : either women play in men's tourny (but that would be pointless since no woman could even break the ATP top 1000 , as Andy Murray said) or completely separate the tournaments and pay according to their respective income.
Do feminists agree with any of those solutions? Of course not. They want the women to be paid the same. Paid the same for being far worse than men at the sport, bringing only a small fraction of the public interest/ income and not playing against the men. This is feminism's idea of equality. Women getting more of everything just because they are women.

I believe that one of the reasons behind this equal pay is to do with bringing up the profile and ability of the female players up. Of course it is given that with less money historically in sport for female athletes they're disadvantaged as they can't afford the top level coaches, equipment, physio etc. which means they can't reach the same heights as the men can. This leads to the outcome of female athletes being perceived as 'less able' in comparison to men and therefore bring in less 'public interest' and 'income'.
I personally can't see how equal pay for women is a bad thing because it will lead to overall better competition in sport so if you're a true lover of sport you would welcome this gesture. I also am failing to see how this equal pay has lead you to the discussion about changing the format of Wimbledon and other sporting events alike.
It also appears you need to research the definition of 'feminism' as it is not 'women getting more of everything just because they're women' since they're only getting equal pay for one of many tournaments that they will enter. This motion yes is a positive but in the grand scheme of things is not enough since other female competitions, sponsorship deals etc. do not pay even half of what men get.

Most people don't understand how much better men are at sports or if they do they just blame it on strength and height. Anyone who has watched a Djoko/Fed or a Barca/Real can easily notice how much faster, agile, quick in reactions men are. And not just that, it's the finesse, the technique, the vision... it's everything. The best 2 female tennis players will just club each other to death until one gives up mentally. No kick, no spin, no vision, no finesse, no nothing...
This is a good example of men vs women in sports, it's a basketball match between the male and female teams at the same US uni. Notice how the boys aren't even trying or using their height/strength and the girls can barely see the ball, never mind touch it or GOD forbid score a point:

Yeah but premier league footballers do the exact same job as league 2 footballers, does that mean they should all get paid the same? Far fewer people watch women's tennis, the argument isn't misogynistic it's capitalist.

They are not doing the exact same job as men. Many jobs don't pay according to the hour or what they do, they pay according to quality and quantity.
I personally think if they want equality in tennis then men should play 3 set matches as well. This would also stop the boring 5 set matches. Only introduce 5 set matches from the quarter finals and onwards for both men and women. Would also help to make sure everyone plays their matches in time for the grand slams.

6 out of the richest 10 players are female. They have all the money in the world and still their level of play is not even on the male junior level. There are women out there who are worth huge amounts without even winning a GS title. And women are not perceived to be worse at sports, they are worse at sports. In fact they can't even compete with teenage boys. The US football team that just won the WC regularly loses to 15/16 yo boys in training matches by 5 or 6 goal margins. These are women at the top at their sport who make millions in endorsements. Women are terrible at sports compared to men, it's called sexual dimorphism. Why should they get the same pay? How the hell is this equality when you work less, your work is of far lower quality, you bring in far less money to the pool the money comes from and still you are paid the same? Is this real life?

It's not about how many minutes/sets they play (although that does affect men in terms of more fatigue/injuries or not being able to play in the doubles for extra cash). It's about not competing in a single competition and not bringing in the same money to the pool that is used to pay the prizes.
Wimbledon is sold all over the world, not just the UK. The popularity of the men's matches and their greater length means far more advertising time and income.
Women generally aren't as good as men and don't bring in as much money, so don't deserve as much money. Simple.
For example, if the male players brought in 70% of the money earned from Wimbledon, and women brought in the remaining 30%, why would/should the salaries be the same?

Exactly, women's sports are not popular because they are such low quality. And money isn't the issue, you could pump all the money in the world and the level wouldn't go up that much. Just look at women's tennis, it is incredibly wealthy and many rich parents send their daughters to top academies yet the level is so poor. People don't care about women's sports for the same reason they don't care about the local sunday pub match : it's crap.

Women shouldn't be paid as much by slams because matches are best of three sets, rather than five. Men's matches are more entertaining at slams and bring in crowds because of drama and great tennis, because of the five sets. However, it is wrong to say women are not good at tennis and are not talented at all.
