The Student Room Group

How much stuff do you actually need to take with you to uni?

Just a question as shown by the title.

-Kitchen wares are provided by halls to the extent of large stuff like pots, pans, appliances, etc. but you might want to bring some cups, bowls, and the like. Even if the halls provides those, students like to keep them in their room for an eternity so...

-Bring some fancy dress stuff. You'll be doing a tonne of that in 1st year with pub crawls, parties, etc.

-Usual schoolbooks, pads, pens, computer, etc.

-Bedding. God knows how many people have arrived at halls without it.

-Normal personal stuff - clothes, wash kit, gym gear, etc.

-BOOZE!

(Will edit/post again if i think of other essentials)
"Need" = the following;

Kitchen - Knives, forks, spoons and plates/bowls + cups/glasses.

Room:
Clothes
Laptop/Computer
Pens/Pencils
Paper
Books/eBooks
Wallet
Phone
Bedding
Clothes horse if you don't use a drier

That's about it really. =l

Most importantly:
CONDOMS!!!!!

Thanks for the quick responses
The uni should send you an itinerary offshoot to bring but for me it was pots and pans food clothing bedding money I would add to that CD's or a desktop or lap top lodged with some good music books(non academic books) photos from back home games cups and yourself alsoosters help
There's a list here which has the basics with a few luxuries.

I've found that you can take the above to uni in a reasonably-sized car no problem. :yy:

Of course, remember to check with the uni what's included and don't buy anything that might be sharable until you get to halls. Additionally, wait until you're at uni to do a food shop as you won't be 100% sure what your storage is like.
