Failed first year

I just got an email saying i will have to retake without attendance in the next academic year .What does this mean do I get through to next year while preparing to resit . or do I just wait to do the exam and postpone second year. Someone please help I am so confused , already tried contacting people but have got no replies . until then can someone please give me a vague idea what is going to happen ,really can't wait for the uni to email.

As far as I'm aware you would re-sit first year next year, but you wouldn't have t attend lectures and seminars. You can't get through to second year until you have passed first year... This happened to a friend of mine and she moved back home for the year whilst re-sitting and is due to come back next year for second year. As it's a busy time of year I suggest ringing up your uni and speaking to the relevant dept directly on the phone - if you can't get through the first time just be persistent as it may take them a while to respond to your email.
