Leeds letting property advice

We have just moved into a property with CityRed, but only now are we hearing how awful they are from the previous tenants regarding being lazy getting the job done and taking loads of money off their deposit which wasnt their fault.

Do you have any advice on how to deal with them this year and to prevent them taking any money off our deposit.
Hey, renting companies have to put your deposit in an account called the deposit protection scheme or something similar through the government, so if you have any problems you can legally dispute it.

Renters usually take money from the deposit if your property or any of the included furnishings are damaged or dirty. Basically, if you want to keep your deposit you need to clean everything properly before you move out  Ive heard some horror stories about CityRed myself, so I'd see how it plays out this year and maybe do some research and change next year to a more reliable company when your contract runs out

Also, if they dont have your deposit in this scheme (which is illegal), and they try to take any away from you then you are entitled to the full amount back legally

Hi,

City Red are part of the Supporters of the Code scheme run by Unipol. This means that thier conduct needs to be in line with our scheme, and if things go wrong Unipol can help. http://www.unipol.org.uk/the-code

City Red will also need to be members of a government approved Redress Scheme - http://www.unipol.org.uk/advice/students/information-for-tenants-on-rights-of-redress-again

We also have advice pages on our website about deposits and much more: http://www.unipol.org.uk/advice/students/know-your-rights

Hope that helps

Victoria
