How much do the books cost?

I can't find any information regarding books that I will need while studying!

I've chosen to study Economics, Politics and International Studies.
How much I can expect to spend on the books for my first year? Is everything necessary to buy or can I borrow something? Maybe there are options for used books?
I have studied a few different subjects at different institutions and you can usually get away without buying books.

Books are out of date pretty soon after they are published and you will need to use other sources (+/- many books) to score top grades in essays etc. Many students spend hundreds of pounds on books that they then open only once on the day they were bought.

If you're willing to make lots of trips to the library, use electronic resources, and perhaps buy the occasional book second hand from Amazon, then you can keep costs down. Don't buy a book just because you are told to do so at the beginning of a module - wait to see if you need it and/or ask students in the year above first.
