Re: Liverpool takeover...what is going on!?Arsenal Football Club has just signed (26th February 2006) a sponsorship deal to promote Israel as a tourist destination(Original post by NDGAARONDI)
Eh? I'd understand that if you supported Man Utd but Arsenal? Unless I'm mistaken.
The £350,000 agreement makes Israel Arsenal's "official and exclusive travel destination." Israel will be featured on digital perimeter boards and 450 high-definition LCD screens at the stadium on game days.[1] The tourism ministry will also have access to the club's official website Arsenal.com, database and magazine to promote Israel as a holiday destination [2]
The televised ads will reach audiences of up to 700 million in an estimated 198 countries. The Israeli Tourism Ministry will also receive intellectual property rights, the use of the team logo and the right to use photos of the team and its players in ads. For an additional fee, Arsenal players will also appear in the ads.[3]
The deal doesn't stop with promoting Israel but actually grants Israel a physical presence in the stadium. The Israeli Tourism Ministry can use the stadium's banquet hall twice a year and can organize an exhibition at the end of the playing season.[3] The stadium will also feature permanent sales tables for t-shirts.[4]
The two-year sponsorship deal begins at the start of next football season in six months' time. -

Re: Liverpool takeover...what is going on!?Fly Emirates are a commercial company, they won't want scandal that results in a boycott, and also have made no indications that they are political in any way. Add into it that Dubai isn't exactly renowned for it's anti-semitism

News conference at 2 i think -
Re: Liverpool takeover...what is going on!?
I hate being a club owned by Americans who know nothing about football, real hardcore knowledgable fans giving us their "USA!" chants. It hurts me so much 'cos they're obviously really clued up
I wish I was so hardcore and there was another club I could do this to. Oh wait...

Our guys seem better (difficult to quantify, i know) in that respect though. They're not pretending to be massive Liverpool fans, they know a little about European football, and have friends that support English teams. None of this "We're massive fans and always have been! Love us!". I'm still slightly apprehensive though

Re: Liverpool takeover...what is going on!?OUR own greed?! MARTIN EDWARDS own greed I think you mean. Don't think you'll find another person who enjoyed what Edwards did, wanted a PLC etc. I don't really see the hilarity in being dead against a takeover by that bastard Glazer, surely it shows passion and commitment to a cause?(Original post by Jaxson)
Sebas..the best part about your takeover and the resulting 'USA USA USA' is that it was hilarious how dead set against the takeover you were, even thought it was a result of your own greed.
This takeover has been agreed on our terms. -
Re: Liverpool takeover...what is going on!?
Liverpool takeover done deal now.....
An interview on Gillett and Hicks is here http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drill...70206-1258.htm
Gillett would consider selling the stadium name rights if it helps boosts transfer money: http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drill...70206-1640.htm
After watching press conference and reading the interview, they sound like the right people to take us forward and help us become the finest club in the world! -
Re: Liverpool takeover...what is going on!?We rubbed in the whole USA thing because it obviously irrated you so much.(Original post by sebas_back)

Oh and for the record, LFC were a PLC for ages we just never floated our shares -
Re: Liverpool takeover...what is going on!?
The end of 'competitiveness' in the Premiership as we know it... The big 4 should bugger off and join their own super league and leave the rest of us to battle it out...
I know we bought the title in 94/95 so I can't really comment, but...
Attendances will dwindle for the rest of our clubs, they will have no hope of gaining a champions league spot or doing well in a cup where as if the top 4 were off somewhere else, those fans may come back...
The financial differences between the smaller clubs (ie Blackburn) and the big clubs is going to be phenomenal, not only will we see the likes of Leeds going bankrupt again, but unable to compete, we will see some of the clubs in the Premiership go down and not come back up as they can't financially afford to compete... Even more of our fans will come and fill your stadiums or join waiting lists for your season tickets, leaving our players to play passionate football in front of even more empty stadiums, with the tumbleweed passing by...
So when you are all sat up there in your comfy seats in your new stadium, whatever it be called, watching 'Liverpool' trouncing their next oponents, spare a thought for those clubs have not been brought out or who have sold themselves, who are struggling for survival, who have equally passionate fans... Put yourselves in their shoes because until someone does, nothing is going to get done about it...
Another grim day for all the clubs in English football outside the big 4...

Re: Liverpool takeover...what is going on!?Not being able to compete with the big four doesn't equate to relegation. I can see your point regarding ticket sales, but it's been awhile since anyone outside of the big four have been likely to win the premiership anyway. I seriously doubt that one club being bought out is going to affect that(Original post by ciderpeter)
