Re: So, you want to do a ski season?Have you looked at SkiBound? I've just come back from a season in the French Alps with them and had such a fantastic time! You can look at jobs and apply through www.tuitraveljobs.co.uk(Original post by destination unknown)
Hey guys, will be finishing uni this September and want to have a ski job for the winter season.
I'm half French, so I guess it's a good advantage.
Which role position is the best to balance good skiing and socialising while at work? I heard being a rep for a ski tour operator is the best otpion.
Any advise please are welcome
They have great opportunities for the summer too as theyre part of TUI Travel

I've never heard anyone make a ski season sound less appealing though! You've focused on all the bad points of the jobs and how difficult they are to get.....
Its not that bad (unless you work for Crystal). In fact, its pretty damn good!
What's so bad about Crystal? Just applied for a Season with Crystal, so details would be sweet so i can change my mind if need be!! :P -
Re: So, you want to do a ski season? As bad a reputation as tour operators have, Crystal seem to have the worst.(Original post by Mattaeos)

Re: So, you want to do a ski season? My only experience with Crystal has been as a customer and I pretty much despised every second of the experience. The reps had an air of forced jolity about them the whole time, didn't seem fun.(Original post by Mattaeos)

Re: So, you want to do a ski season?lot of the O(Original post by Drewski)
SkiOlympic interview today. Went well. Nice day. Will find out Monday.
Also sent off packs to 10 US resorts.
Good luck.
I know a lot of the Olympic staff from Courchevel are returning, so if you get placed there I can guarantee you'll have a good time. -

And yeah, I'm thinking La Plagne/Les Arcs if I have the choice, but if I get it it's going to be my backup. -

Re: So, you want to do a ski season?Congrats!(Original post by Drewski)
Got the job.
Slightly put off by the £1.21/hr wage and insane amount of work/lack of downtime, so I'm still gunning for some instructing work in north america, but this'll do as a backup.
Though 1.21/hour?!! How does that work?! I'd heard that people working in European resorts didn't earn much, but that's insane.
I'm in Canada and it's definitely minimum wage everywhere - here in BC I get $10.25/hour, plus a free lift pass, lessons, rentals. -
Re: So, you want to do a ski season?£80/week, 1.5 days off a week, working 12/14hr days. Boils down to around £1.21/hr. Everything else is paid for, travel, accommodation, lift pass, hire if I needed it [I don't], food, so in fairness, it's basically £80 profit every week, but still.(Original post by gemini89)
Congrats!

My aim is to be out teaching in Canada or the US, this is a reserve in case they fall through. -

Even with paying my rent, food & petrol to get to the base of the mountain, I still make way more than that every week doing 40 hours.
Good luck for a teaching job! I know that some resorts here have very cheap accommodation available on mountain (mine has none), so potentially you can make/save a decent amount. -
Re: So, you want to do a ski season?
Got offered a job with Esprit (was hoping for ski total as I'll have just finished doing full time swimming teaching for kids but oh well) and they're offered me a job in Tignes as a chalet host for a family in a chalet of 5-7 people, anyone done a season in tignes?

Re: So, you want to do a ski season?
i have an assessment centre with flexiski for chalet hosting coming up in august.
has anyone been to one of their assessments?
anyone know their reputation as a company to work for? I know they're part of Tui and Crystal have a bad rep, so a bit worried. found an article on someone that worked as an undercover chalet host for them and sung their praises, so hoping that they don't have the same reputation as crystal.
i've not been told to bring anything or prepare anything. just that it'll be a full day 9.30-17.30. and will be split into group and then individual interview. is there anything i can prepare just in case? i haven't been asked for a food menu, but think that with flexiski all of the chalets have hosts, so it's probs not necessary. -
Re: So, you want to do a ski season?Tignes is a great resort. It's where the european X Games are held aswell so that will be great to see. If I could do a season I would try do it in Tignes. Your also just over the hill from Val'disere which is another very famous resort.(Original post by star*)

Re: So, you want to do a ski season?
However, Tignes is also among the more expensive of resorts. Ok, every resort is pricey, but Tignes/Val D'Isere especially so. You're not going to be paid huge amounts, so will that go far enough?
Having said that, it is also one of the ones I'm looking at working in over the winter due to the huge Espace Killy terrain open to you.
