What do you think is the HARDEST A LEVEL?

definitely physics. Maths and futher were nothing in comparison. However i do agree with what some one said up the top of this board about Art A level, i did music A level which was a tremendous amount of work, probably took up more of my time than the other three A levels combined!
Physics is a pain in the bumhole. Either all Physics teachers are **** (and i've had five) or my whole class is ****.

Got an a* at gcse. Not sure about AS- predicted an A but predictions mean nothing with Physics- either goes one way or the other. It's not even the content, it's the ridiculous mark schemes and the exams wording. Fine Art is also mad difficult!

Can i butt in with computing?! Not only is there AS level and beyond maths theory behind it, but also a tonne of memorising facts (like physics) AND learning a whole new language (i.e java, C, python) AND a massive coursework block?!
To settle the debate with humanities vs science, several other studies I have seen have come to similar conclusions.
The hardest A Level as a poster mentioned is Additional Further Maths.Maths A Level is very overrated and is actually pretty easy if you have lots of natural ability or you work very hard, as the questions are very repetitive but the A* is actually quite hard to achieve due to silly mistakes and very specific rules(90% over specifically C3 and C4).

To do well in Further Maths A Level you must be better than a lot of really good mathematicians and my Further class has really struggled during the year(even students who easily get almost 100% in Maths Assignments/Homework) and basically to do well you must both work very hard and have lots of natural ability-for most of the other subjects, one of these two requirements is needed.

All of the class got really low grades in the M2 mock, my teacher didn't both marking them as the paper was so hard and all have the class had done so badly but I did mark it and got an E but the whole class worked extremely hard and fortunately it was our last first year exam weeks after our previous ones and a lot of the class managed to do well with a lot of natural ability and hard work.

It was very similar this year with the whole class really struggling through the course and having to work hard to pull off grades and a lot of my class are really unsure whether they have done well as it was so tough(FP3 and M3 were horrible but FP2 was great but the class found it extremely difficult when taught the content first time round).

I think for Chemistry and Physics most naturally gifted people will probably have to put not that much effort to do well ( for an A Level, which is still quite a lot though), where as this is not the case for Further Maths.

Additional Further Maths is also miles harder than Further Maths, where virtually all your units consist of the hardest modules(that most teachers deliberately don't do in Further Maths for a reason) and you have to do well at really hard modules to get any decent grade at all, a lot of the content is studied as part of the first year of a Maths degree at a good University its that hard(this is another reason why Further/Additional Further Maths are so hard both of these A Levels feature a significant amount of actual degree level content as opposed to not much in other A Levels).

lolling at arts and humanities plebs. Maths and science subjects are obviously the hardest.

As a humanities student who usually scores better in science exams than humanities exams:
Humanities subjects take more legwork and are more difficult to do well in, in my experience, due to the subjectivity of marking and the unpredictable mark schemes; this is entirely separate from the difficulty of the material. If you do every maths past paper and meticulously learn and understand the syllabus you will probably do well, but in English Lit you can study those books, understand them and draft essays all you want, you need a different level of skill to do well, you need articulacy. Also, humanities exams kill and have insane grade boundaries. End of my C3 exam (thought to be the second hardest in a decade) I had 40 mins left to check; end of my RS exam I had 45 seconds. Same length exam.

General studies is the hardest a-level. Its not like other subjects at all. I would imagine a language is the hardest proper subject e.g german.
probably a btec or written subject like english or sociology or history

Me too, Andy98, me too! but nevertheless three languages (a native one and two foreign ones) were compulsory. German education system is completely different to the British one.

I'd have failed school there:eek:

Computing is the one I'm finding easiest

Physics. It killed me. I'm dropping it

Yeah, I believe you. In Germany all subjects are at A level (every single German student has eight up to nine subjects), plus the German education system has not this specialisation as in Britain, where every single student has the opportunity to choice four A levels in different subject areas, if I am not mistaken. As I said completely different.

That is not everything! when the last grades are achieved as an A level student in Germany, the Germans has to choice two up to three subjects which are at a higher level than the rest ones, called 'Leistungskursfächer'. Subjects at this level have the requirements of basic studies for universities...

That part I might not mind

Physics. I got a U at AS and dropped it. I had AB in double science GCSE.

I would say Further Maths, but many people who do Further Maths find Maths easy. You'd be very silly to do Further Maths if you were crap at Maths tbh.

I guess that such levels do not exist in the UK? it is quasi an advanced level to A level. To give you an imagination how difficult A levels in Germany might be, I want to tell you that I was a home schooler who had no helps in learning the topics and facts in every single subject at home. When I have signed me in for A level exams some years ago like 50 another students, I have passed, but over one third failed.

And why do you think its the hardest a level subject
also what did u get in gcse for it and what did u get/predicted at AS/A2

Latin.

Hands down. It is about 50000% harder than subjects like Maths.
