Good unis for a combined english course???

I'm in year 12 and am looking for unis that do english lit/lang combined degrees (I would prefer them combined than doing a joint degree). I've been looking at UCL, Stirling, Goldsmiths, Edge Hill, and Chester but I was wondering if anyone knows any others that do a decent english course... :h:
I haven't looked at many myself, (since I'm more focused on the literature aspect) but from what I have seen I personally liked the look of Nottingham's English course. You can choose aspects of both literature and language to study and it looked like they covered quite a wide variety of topics.
That sounds great! I shall have a look at their course, thank you  which other unis have you been looking at?
Mostly Kent, but also Southampton, Royal Holloway, Exeter, Leeds, and a bunch of others! You should check them out, and look at the university league tables for English!
I have actually visited Exeter Uni (although it was for science, but I got the impression it is a great uni). A bit of research has also lead me to Liverpool and Birmingham, which both look great! Their English courses look to cover a very wide range of topics.
Hi rachelthehuman,

It's great that you are interested in studying for a degree in English. I studied a combined course at the University of Hertfordshire in English Literature (75%) with New Media Publishing (25%).

Both English Literature and English Language & Communication can be studied as major or minor subjects depending on which you would like to specialise in.

Alternatively there a number of other minors that you can choose to study alongside English, including Languages, English Language Teaching, Creative Writing and American Studies.

The Humanities programme is really flexible and you don't need to choose your minor subjects until you arrive if you apply for the Humanities open programme.

There is also a great study abroad programme which you can find out about here: http://www.herts.ac.uk/international/exchanges-and-study-abroad

If you have any questions at all about the course, feel free to ask!

Thanks,
Heather

Thanks for the detailed reply  It would be great to have the opportunity to study abroad, so unis with that option do tend to grab my attention.
