Have category A on provisional driving lincence at 17

I'm 17 and receive the enhanced rate of the mobility component of PIP and so got my licence at 16 I don't have category A1 or A2 but I do have category A valid from my 17th birthday when you have to be 21 for category A. I don't have a physical disability. does any one know why this is?

I receive PIP because I have Asperger's syndrome and so struggle using public transport.
When provisional licenses show Cat A, it means you have provisional entitlement to use any motorbike that you're old enough to use. As you are 17, it only entitles you provisionally on A1 bikes (125cc max).

I think this is because if your license was printed showing provisional entitlement for A1 only and not A2 or A, you'd have to have the license reprinted showing A2 and then A as you became old enough to use those, so it's simplest just to put A on everyone's provisional license.
