English student at Scottish uni

I'm hoping to study at Aberdeen Uni but I only realised when I visited that most Scottish students start uni at 17, does anyone have any experience from my position at studying at a Scottish uni with a standard education in England and does it make any difference to how easy it is so fit in, socialise, work etc

I'm not an English student, but I know plenty of them at uni and none of them have had any issues fitting in because of being English and having had an English education. I wouldn't worry about it, you aren't an alien haha!

Haha okay Thank you! I wasn't sure if everyone would still be as friendly, and I don't want to make the wrong decision studying at Aberdeen Uni as it's 13 hours away from where I live!

No one will be unfriendly to you because of where you come from, so don't worry about that! Some people can be a-holes, but you get that absolutely anywhere and in walk of life. When do you plan on coming to Aberdeen? What do you plan on studying?

Ooh that's exciting, good luck!
I'm already at Aberdeen, just away to start my third year of accounting and finance. I always said if I wasn't doing a business degree I'd do a science one though, the zoology building at uni is really interesting!

Thank you! Ooh cool what's it like living in Aberdeen? What are the things you like about the uni/ area and the things you don't like if you don't mind me asking? yeah I loved how the zoology building had a mini museum in it!

I love Aberdeen, it's the perfect city for me. It has a city vibe whilst still being a stones throw away from the countryside. I love that the beach is so close to the city centre and that we have plenty of beaches to choose from. I love that I can watch the sunrise/sunset over the beach from the library. The library can be a bit noisy because of the ridiculous design of the building, but the best views are from the quiet rooms anyway, so that's no big deal.

You're never very far from anything in Aberdeen, the uni is only a 15/20 minute walk from the centre of town and a 15/20 minute walk in the other direction to the beach. The facilities at aberdeen uni are great, we have a fantastic sports village and aquatics centre.

Honestly, I just love it haha, I couldn't recommend it enough.

Thank you! You've really sold it to me, despite it already pretty much selling itself to me when I went to visit! I'm definitely going to apply there now!
