Results Day 2015 Guide - Oxford Offer Holders

Results Day 2015 Oxford Offer Holders

This article is to help clarify exactly what will happen on Results Day and what you need to do depending on your results. The order of events for reference is:

12th August:
6.00pm Clearing courses made available
13th August:
6.00am UCAS Social Media Support begins
8.00am Restricted Track Opens
5.00pm Full Track Opens (Clearing choice can be added)

Try and get a good night’s sleep, instead of staying up all night refreshing Track as it won’t update until around 8.00am (official time sometimes can update earlier, but never much more than half an hour).

When Track does update you will find yourself in one of these situations:

Your offer has changed from Conditional to Unconditional
Congratulations! Your offer is confirmed and you have nothing more you need to do with Track. This means either you made your grades, or you could have missed them but your college has decided to accept you anyway. Feel free to collect your results and enjoy the rest of your day! Please DON’T contact the University, as the lines will be very busy. Sit back and wait for the next lot of contact, which will contain forms and contracts regarding accommodation and freshers etc.

Your offer has not changed and still says Conditional
Please don’t instantly phone your College! Your next step is to find out your results.

If you’ve made your offer then you don’t need to panic contact UCAS to find out what admin error has occurred. Then it is time to celebrate!

If you find you haven’t made your offer, then you need to phone your College to find out what the situation is. If you were very close on a certain grade, then it is worth considering a Priority Remark but first you need to talk to your College as they may have decided to accept you anyway. If not, then discuss the Remark and your next steps. Usually you would now have until the 31st August to meet your offer, although the University is not obliged to follow this rule (most colleges do however honour it). If the answer is No, then you will now either be going to your Insurance, or will be in Clearing (further details to follow)

You have missed your offer and have been declined on Track
Again you first need to find out your results.

The advice now follows the same as above, if you were very close to a certain grade, then it is worth considering a Priority Remark. You would need to contact your College to discuss this, and whether they will honour your offer until the 31st August. If they decide to honour the offer, and the re-mark comes back meaning you’ve met your grade then it is time to celebrate!

You were waiting for a re-mark and it hasn’t gone up/your college wont wait for a re-mark
Unfortunately, you will not be going to Oxford this academic year. If you have met your Insurance offer then this will have changed to Unconditional and you will head off there. If you haven’t, or didn’t have an Insurance then you will now be in Clearing.

Clearing is a bit of a scary and hectic place so there is a whole Hub of support here on TSR for it - http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/content.php?r=15485-introduction-to-clearing
