1/3 of students choose uni based on bursaries. This is a flaw in our system

well who wouldn't pass up cheaper uni costs?

Hardly surprising. If my local Uni had been higher ranked I'd have been persuaded by the £2k local bursary available, but given I was barely getting any support and needed to work anyway, it wasn't enough to make me drop that many league table positions.

The whole University funding system is flawed.

I don't get the problem?

>Students don't like debt/high living costs
>Universities provide financial assistance to incentivise applications in the form of grants, loans, fee reductions
>Students apply to these universities

If other universities want these students then they provide bursaries and financial support.

The problem is that, student shouldnt have to worry about living costs, the government should do enough so that everyone goes to the best uni that they are capable of.
