90% of communication is non-verbal.

In Italy, I'd say its about 100% - you could probably hold a discussion about the colour of Mr Prodi's underpants without ever saying a word of Italian.

Actually i kind of agree with Gaijin you can get by without knowing an awful lot! 16 italians at the hotel this week..they'd come up and ask us things in italian and babble away and we were like ermmm What?? lol.. but most of the time you could pick out what they were saying even if you actually didn't know - it's weird!! :redface:
