Liberty Court Keele Uni 2015/12016

Hi guys!
I've been given a room at Liberty Court as a first year this September and I'm really worried about how far it is from campus especially for freshers week! I haven't had a chance to go up and check out the accommodation at Liberty Court yet; has anyone been up to see it yet? I'm really worried, should I try changing to on campus? So confused !!!

I've got liberty court too, kind of annoyed as I really wanted to be on campus! I can't seem to find any info about how far exactly it is from campus, has anyone else? But I did notice that we get a free bus pass so it won't cost us any more which is good I suppose. I tried ringing up accommodation to see if I could change to on-campus and the person said to email them, maybe you could try that if wanted

Hi

Liberty court is about 40 minutes away from campus  I haven't been there myself but apparently it's very nice. You'll get a double bed and a spacious room and en suite. There's a Facebook group with students who've lived there which you could join and they could answer any of your questions  https://www.facebook.com/groups/1478022785844100/

I'd also recommend joining the Keele Facebook freshers page if you haven't already

Yay! Congratulations!

First year was pretty tough to be honest but if you work hard and get the assignments and revision done on time then it shouldn't be a problem (I had a problem with procrastination haha don't follow my example!) The lecturers are also super helpful if you have any questions at all.

There were some sort of session every weekday so the timetable was quite busy but there is still time to socialise and relax from studies if you manage your time well. I'd recommend printing out your lectures (6 to a page and double sided to save paper) and bring them to class rather than bringing in an empty notebook I found it to be much more helpful as you don't have to write up what's on the slides just the extra notes the lecturers mention.

The atmosphere overall is pretty good the class is about 100 students so you'll have plenty of people to get to know  Everyone will be looking to make friends

Hope this helped! anymore questions don't hesitate to ask and I'll try my best to answer them

I was a tad annoyed too and really worried about not being on campus but I've done tons off research and feel assured! I think I'm going to stick with Liberty Court as there are a lot of perks to it! I have emailed Keele accommodation but apparently if they do find us accommodation there, it won't be the best some of the forums said! Yeh we do get free bus passes for travel and there's also a free bus that runs at night from the uni back to Liberty.

I'm excited now

Yes, I've lived on campus for two years now and will be in September as well  Aw don't worry you may have to do some extra travelling but you will still have a lot of fun. I have a number of friends who live off campus and we still get together a lot. Not as much or as weird times of the night as my friends on campus but we put in the effort to make sure they're included. Plus you'll have your liberty court neighbours and I'm sure liberty is it's own small community that you'll feel right at home with

I'm planning on living in Liberty Court for my foundation year then on-campus for my first year. Did you apply through Keele accomodation or directly thought Liberty? I just want to be put with other freshers from Keele too.

Sorry I don't know the start date but you will get all the information you need in time don't worry. From what I can remember in my first year we had a day soon after moving in it might've been the Monday but I'm not sure where we were given our lab coats, goggles, BNFs, folders, etc. and we were also given a paper timetable for the other sessions in the week including our first lecture.

There's not much to be honest because they start right from the basics to get everyone up to the same level. Work experience in a pharmacy will help you in dispensing classes but again they teach it all to you anyway. There are a couple of books that the lecturers use a lot for their slides on the reading list that you can take a look at I wouldn't recommend buying them unless you really need your own copy though because the library has a lot of copies of the popular books.

The most important skill needed in the pharmacy course in my opinion is good time management as long as you complete things in good time you'll be fine. So perhaps with what's left of the summer holidays you can train yourself to gets tasks done and out of the way early and maybe get a good sleeping schedule started because if you're anything like me you'll turn nocturnal at uni

Hope this helped!

I've just received an offer for liberty court as well and im on the science foundation year starting September. Was also planning to be on campus for for next year. What foundation year are you on and also what course are you looking to start next year?

My course comes with a foundation year and I've been allocated Liberty Court much to my annoyance. I have a couple of days left to confirm, but when I called them up they said that all en-suits are taken and they don't seem to have any standard rooms on campus left. My only other choice would be to share with another student until a room became vacant and this can be anywhere from a month to 3 months. I don't know what's my best option. I'm more concerned about freshers and getting to and from Liberty court. What do you guys think?

TBH i think that having an en suite for a whole year is much more important than 7 days worth of travelling hassles. plus as we are doing a foundation year, we will be able to do freshers all over again next year. Freshers is what you make it, if you are willing to put in the effort and travel to campus to have a great time, im sure you will enjoy it no matter where you sleep. if anything theres a 24hr library, crash there if you cant make it home :')

we are in the same boat here hope ive tried to help make the best out of a bad situation.

I shared a room temporarily in Lindsay hall with another student in my first year and we were only sharing for 2 weeks. Our neighbours also only shared for a week and a half. They try to separate you as soon as possible and rooms do end up being emptied in the first few weeks. One of you will stay in the room and one will move out. I moved into the room down the hall which was vacated because the student changed her mind about studying at uni. I've never heard of someone sharing for 3 months though. It's a good option if staying on campus is your priority.

However, liberty court rooms are apparently very nice if you can put up with the travelling every day.

Hope this helped a bit
