Sociology and politics degree....NEED HELP ASAP :(

I'm going into year 13 and will be doing sociology, economics and politics as i achieved AAB. In the future i want to do a job in finance or marking..maybe HR or PR..so I was thinking of doing a sociology and politics degree...I have some questions:

1) is it a respectable degree?
2) is it hard to get a job in politics or sociology?
3) what kind of jobs can you get with sociology and politics? Excluding social work, teacher and politican... I have researched and noticed PR, HR, research jobs are common but is the salary good?

Please reply or message me personally

Thanks
Hi

1. Yes it is a 'respectable' degree. Some people might have their prejudices but the degree is accepted pretty much everywhere (unless you want to do something really specific like Medicine).
2/3. Degrees in the humanities and social sciences are of value because of the skills students develop rather than the specific content. You learn to construct and evaluate arguments, write clearly and concisely, conduct and analyse research and understand people and the world today. These sorts of skills are valuable in many jobs such as PR and HR. The salaries of these jobs are OK but it's competitive and you might need internships and start on a pretty low salary - but that's true of a lot of jobs today.

If you're thinking about finance and marketing maybe you should consider Economics/Business - or a general social science first year where you can decide what to specialise in for the rest of your degree?

Good luck!
