Fourth year entry from another UK university

Hello, I am an international student just completed my first year at Imperial in Chemistry. For a long time,I have been always considering doing MSc at Cambridge. I know Cambridge does not offer sole Chemistry course, but only offers Natural Science course. So, that would be my consideration. However, I am not quite sure if Cambridge accepts a student who has completed his three-year BSc course at one of the UK universities and intends to continue his study at Cambridge just for its fourth year course, which is MSc. One of my postgraduate student I know told me that she actually did what I've mentioned earlier (3 year at York, last 1 year at Imperial). As you know, most universities allow students to switch from 3-year bachelor's degree to 4-year master's degree when they are still first or second year. But, could anyone here please tell me if this case is possible at Cambridge? Thanks

So I don't *think* you can apply to join Part III of the NatSci Tripos from an external university. But you can, of course, apply to an MPhil. That would be a normal progression; BSc at one uni, then MSc (or MPhil) at another uni.

You will need a First (or possibly a good 2i) to be competitive for an MPhil application.

I think Tripos Part III (4th year) which gives you MSci was only available for who completed Tripos II (3rd year) with 2.1. or higher at Cambridge, not for someone applying from other universities. And Cambridge do not usually accept transfer from other universities before completing the course, either.

I'd suggest you contact the postgraduate admission office of the department.
Also there's a forum for Postgraduate in TSR, so perhaps you can get some information about other postgrad courses at other universities, too. This particular forum is mainly for Cambridge's undergraduate admission and courses, etc. Not many people here can provide you with useful info.

I thought the only postgrad Chemistry course available at Cambridge was PhD and there isn't any MPhil course for a general 'Natural Science' either. Have you looked at their website to check what sort of courses are available?

I'm pretty sure there is an MPhil for Chemistry - it's just not open for admission to the next cycle yet.
