Depends on what you are putting on there. If its just a few documents and pictures then that is plenty. If you are planning on putting a load of games on there then maybe not.
8GB in most cases is definitely enough for coursework
I have that very same Kingston DataTraveler 32GB stick. They are more than enough for my everyday use, tho nowadays I rarely used USB stick and migrated to Dropbox.

All USB sticks do basically the same thing. The main thing is that it provides enough space, which 8GB certainly will if you ain't using it for games, pirated movies and porn.
8GB is plenty for the use you describe - however with it being important stuff I feel obliged to state the obvious and warn you not to put all your eggs in one basket (sticks can be lost, data corruption, etc), always have a contingency plan.
Well I have an 8gb and 16gb memory sticks and tbh I've not used up more than 1 fb on either and I have lots of files on them. I guess if you want to store films or photos then you might want a bigger one but for word documents etc a 4gb or even 2gb stick would prob be more than enough!
