Are 8GB USB memory sticks any good.

So i was looking at USB sticks on Amazon and was wondering if the 8GB ones are any good?

so, does anyone have any USB stick recommendations to back up coursework and files etc.

Is the one here good because it says its a data traveller?:s-smilie:

Depends on what you are putting on there. If its just a few documents and pictures then that is plenty. If you are planning on putting a load of games on there then maybe not.

8GB in most cases is definitely enough for coursework
Not if you want to store 9Gb of files.

But seriously, they'll all do the job.
More important is speed and build quality.

8GB is plenty!

I have that very same Kingston DataTraveler 32GB stick. They are more than enough for my everyday use, tho nowadays I rarely used USB stick and migrated to Dropbox.
Just remember that sticks can get lost ( and machines can crash)

Never rely on a single source to store important stuff.
8GB is enough space to back up your coursework and your niche porn collection.

LoL, i don't watch porn and just want a USB for my coursework, pictures and files.

Thanks for the reply.
All USB sticks do basically the same thing. The main thing is that it provides enough space, which 8GB certainly will if you ain't using it for games, pirated movies and porn.
I always save a word document on the stick called "this stick belongs to "
lol funny topic its all about brand

8GB is plenty for the use you describe - however with it being important stuff I feel obliged to state the obvious and warn you not to put all your eggs in one basket (sticks can be lost, data corruption, etc), always have a contingency plan.

Well I have an 8gb and 16gb memory sticks and tbh I've not used up more than 1 fb on either and I have lots of files on them. I guess if you want to store films or photos then you might want a bigger one but for word documents etc a 4gb or even 2gb stick would prob be more than enough!

I've got a couple of the red USB sticks (8GB) and they are very good for what I have needed them for. They have been very reliable for my use.

And what's even better, on that Amazon link you sent me you can buy up to a 128GB USB stick, so if you need more space then you're good to go!

It doesn't really matter if it is a data traveller or not, it's probably just a marketing gimmick
