I can understand why candles and other things like that are banned because they're a fire hazard but why are mini fridges banned? What is the official reason for them to be banned in halls? I don't understand..

The reason why mini fridges are banned is because of safety reasons (we can't ensure that they are PAT tested), and also ecological reasons as if every student brought a mini fridge it would massively increase energy usage, and at NTU we have a green agenda.
However there are some exceptions to the rule, for example if you need the fridge for medical reasons. If this is the case, let the accommodation team know and they will provide a fridge for you.
