Year 12s: what will be the first way you research your future options? >>

Automotive design Coventry Uni 2016

Hi everyone, I'm going to put automotive design at Coventry for my firm/first choice and Transport product design at Aston for my insurance...Wondering what you guys have put for insurance and other 3 choices.? Because this course is quite 'rare' so I'm choosing similar course such as product design for my other 3 choices. Any advices on my options??? Cheers.
Do you suggest writing my personal statement focusing on automotive or both automotive and product design?

Ummm haven't thought of that.. What do they look for? I do fine art at school and also have some car sketches I have done,, would that be enough? I Have around 3 sketch books of fine art (one of them is focused on car in general) and car rendering sketches.

That should be ok. Try to have a variety of your best work in the portfolio. Dont try to focus entirely on cars add other artwork and designs. Id like to see some of your design sketches if thats ok.

Also how's your personal statement going? And what's ur other 4 courses and uni choices?

Yes im in yr 13. Not in any particular order yet I am going to put :
transport design at staffordshire,
Transport prduct design -aston,
Industrial design -hertfordshire
Not sure about the last choice

My second choice would be Aston
Other three would be product design
So I'm still unsure about my personal statement
I'm trying to write about both but mainly on cars..
And how's ur portfolio going? How many car sketch will be enough? I'd say 5?

Thanks! I do maths art and product design. My portfolio going well. I am going to have 4 little car projects some of my art work and product design work. Are you going to the open day on saturday 12th?

No im based in yorkshire. Yes it can be a comptetive course as it is very rare and specialised.

For ths first project i am going to design a 2+2 sports coupe, second project 2 seater, third project a gt vision inspired car and fourth project a offroad. I might do another not sure yet.

Haha cool, are they all gonna be hand sketched or computer rendered?
