Let's talk about Male Body Image

Hi everyone,

I watched a video on youtube about the views of anonymous men on their own body image and how society forces gender stereotypes which are crushing some men's self esteem and body image.

Men are forced to assimilate their gender roles, such as being a 'strong, bread winner with no weaknesses' which are causing some men to feel that they can't talk about these issues. The stereotypes are often 'self-perpetuating' within male freindship groups where talking about body image is seen as 'feminine'.

Being a gay male, I can also find this particularly relevant to the gay community where body image issues are even more problematic because their is an element of comparison in same sex relationships.

I just wanted an open discussion and participation, I'm really interested in hearing what people think. Why is it an issue? How do we fix it? How do you feel about the issue?
