Why do international students live together?

I'm on a study abroad programme and I arrived at my Uni a few days ago. My new flat mates are all international students. Why is this? I just assumed at this particular uni I'd be just mixed in with non-international students as it never mentioned we'd be living separately
Because the study abroad programmes are usually only a term and it's not really fair to try and Introduce someone into a new flat where their flatmates already had a term to get to know each other and make friends

I was about to say this. It's sucky for home-students too! I get to interact with internationals when we are in class but I think it would be interesting to live with an international student. The furthest any of my housemates lived away was Essex.
