    1 in 10 .

    5000 applicants 500 places.

Though international students are more likely to get their first choice so technically as a home student our chances are less.

I'm not so bothered anymore i've sent off my choices all i can do really. They'll put me where they want and i'll deal with it then!
How do you know there are 5000 applicants?

I think the capacity of GDS and Stamford Street are about 700 each, so getting into at least one of them is a lot higher than 1/10.

And all of them put Stamford Street Apartments as their first choice? I doubt that...

Gah I hate all this accomodation stuff! I was thinking of SSA or GDA, because since they're self catered I wouldn't be wasting money on food I didn't eat but they're actually more expensive than the catered halls! But they are closer, so might put down SSA as my first and an intercollegiate as my second choice.

Whoever's words they were, it's obviously not true. Someone who puts SSA as their first choice will have a much higher chance of getting it than someone who puts it as their last choice - so, higher than 1 in 10. And not everybody ranks SSA highly.

I was wondering if any of you helpful King's students could help me out with all your personal experiences of accommodation. I'm sure there are many others in a similar situation to me, wondering about the various facilities.

The most popular halls, places to avoid, interesting notes.. etc.

Also, pictures would be heartily appreciated!!

I'm in intercollegiate! The location is in my opinion the best (e.g. most central) for socialising and going out, but not so for lectures. I'm based at Guys, and if I could pick to move right now it would be to Great Dover Street or Wolfson. Firstly because they're right near my campus, and secondly because they're self catered. I don't touch the food here so pay for my own, plus I pay to commute to my campus, and the rent is expensive in the first place! But if you're looking to socialise lots, intercollegiates are the way to go!

I'm thinking of putting Nutford house as my first choice.

Do you think that is a wise move?

I've stayed at KCH couple of times with my mates. It was mad, all they do is muck about and party 24/7. It has its own bar, big TV room, common room with a piano - so many places to socialise. So if social life is what you're after, KCH is da bomb. The rooms vary though, and it's pretty far out - I guess those are the main drawbacks.

Right, thanks so much!!!. Thats very useful The only prob for me would be that it's catered I guess, but oh well.

    What about Hampstead and Wolfson?

They're pretty social, both of them. I think Hampstead has lots of facilities and Wolfson benefits from being right near Guy's Bar.

    hey!..

just wondering, one of the downsides people seem to say for the intercollegiate halls is the fact that there catered.... so i was wondering what exactly is on the menu thats so terrible?

SSA is the closest...but i'm sure there's intercollegiates around the strand area somewhere but I don't know the exact locations...I'm sure theres a UoL map somewhere with everything showing on it in relation to everything else...
