Followers on TSR

I've always wondered what's the point in having followers on TSR?...

I've got almost 50 and I've got no idea where they've all came from and why the followed me. Should I be grateful or filing restraining orders?

It was probably almost 50 at the time of posting.
I have something like 130 followers which I thought was a lot, then I saw some TSR mod or something with 100k followers and was like :eek2:
