If A Natural Disaster/Something Bad Happened To The UK........

Poll

Would we receive foreign aid?

...........do you honestly expect that we'd receive any aid or donations?

We give about £12 billion in foreign aid, but would we receive any help in return if something bad happened to our country?
Yes. This happened after the 2011 Tohuku earthquake in Japan, why shouldn't it happen here? Some countries donated money, some medical workers and military support, some both. The UK, and many other western Europe countries, did receive economic aid from the US after WW2.

Also I read somewhere that EU members are eligible for disaster support grants in the event of natural disasters. I think the UK had skipped this opportunity during the 2014 floods in the south-west.

Yeah of course. You'd also see charities and things helping. Think of the red cross during the floods. We even sent aid to America after katrina.

nah
well
it depends on the seriousness of the disaster
if it was something like an earthquake - no
if it was something like extensive destruction, endless death and mass devastation - maybe
generally, aid is seen to be for the "little people" in the world which we "don't deserve"
